Tony led the way but he was struggling to see without the glasses so its lucky 286 people weren't led off course. Then came Andrew Clydesdale having shed weight to increase his Christmas Dinner allowance he just flew down that hill. Not to be out done the micro bundle of energy David Meldrum came next. Then it was just William for whom the Bell tolled in a time that is testimony to his endurance. Nick Bather swam in next keeping Ian Munro and Dave Waterman at bay. Ewan Barnfather kept himself in front of Ronan McConville and Chris Moon with Roger the Dodger Lee macarooned in 121st place. Alix Boardman showed her metal as the first lady strider home. Dean McMorris just got pipped for a sub 50 10k probably because he was a little late in turning up for registration. Evelyn Mohammed and David Ross had a brave attempt at breaking the 50mins but Evelyn probably expended too much energy helping out before hand. Eleanor McCabe had a great run for her 53.46 finish as did Anne Marie Hamilton. Craig was heard to say that was getting uncomfortably close to his time for a 10k. Dorothy Lucas can still turn in a respectable time for a 21 yearold! Julie macaulay showed her metal too staying in front of that battle hardened Eric Rice who still pulls out the stops for a race. Hilary Wright belies the fact she's a Granny with her performance with Mary Ann Fleming putting on a show with her run. Linda Russell was unlucky to have missed the hour mark while Linsey McMinn had a great time splashing through the puddles. Anne Thistlethwaite cursed the wee grassy hill at the end and taught us words weve never heard before. Jane Struth disguised as a running anorak had much to say as well but most of it was mercifully carried away by the wind. Maureen Cook discovered the delights of heavy rain but stayed in front of Lorna Mcauley. Lorna Yuill did well to finsh so strongly and Fiona Campbell and Karen Lapsley were still chattering away as they crossed the line. Jennifer Pirrett showed great staying power which her father couldn't emulate when he surrendered to the rain and wind as he spectated heading for home before his daughter made it over the line.
Well done everyone especially the first timers. It took a brave person to venture out doors never mind run in those conditions. Many Thanks to all helpers and team leaders, chips and registers, drivers and erectors, signs oot and back inors, cooks and bakers and sanny makers. _________________ The Scribe (Scriptus Minimouse) |
